Problem
Irvington: A Living Museum |
|
When we were first approached about this project it was stated, almost matter-of-factly, the plasma center was to blame for the petty crime and poor condition of Irvington. The plasma center, located at the center of the neighborhood, paid for plasma donations and thus tended to attract a low-income population from outside the neighborhood. It was believed if the plasma center would leave the area that petty crime would be greatly reduced and the overall condition of Irvington would improve. A few community members had been trying for years to have the plasma center removed from the area without success. |
